Meet best-selling and award-winning authors Sebastian Junger and Alan Huffman on Friday, February 3rd from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Pass Books/Cat Island Coffeehouse. Junger is the author of “The Perfect Storm: A True Story of Men Against the Sea” and the current bestseller “Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging”. Huffman is the author of “Mississippi in Africa: The Saga of the Slaves of Prospect Hill Plantation and Their Legacy in Liberia Today” and “Sultana: The Worst Maritime Disaster in American History”.
Junger and Huffman will speak and answer questions at 6:15 and sign their books.
Both authors have considerable experience reporting from the battlefield and countries engulfed in civil war. Junger has reported from Nigeria and Afghanistan. Huffman’s insightful reporting continues to illuminate the ongoing tragedy and suffering in Libya.
Junger’s “The Perfect Storm” was made into the popular movie of the same name. His film “Restrepo”, filmed while embedded in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan, was nominated for the 2011 Academy Award for Best Documentary.
Huffman has made numerous appearances on C-Span II, Fox & Friends, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart discussing his war, political, and historical works.
